Programme Overview

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) invites applications for admission to its three-year LL.B. (Hons.) programme for the academic year 2025-26. The academic session will commence on July 1, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized national or international university.
  • General Category candidates must have secured at least 45% aggregate marks in their undergraduate degree, while SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD candidates must have secured a minimum of 40%.
  • Final-year undergraduate students may apply, provided they submit proof of degree completion by December 31, 2025.
Admission Process

Admission is based on the National Law School Admission Test (NLSAT-LLB), an all-India entrance exam. The total intake is 120 students, and only candidates meeting the prescribed criteria will be admitted. 

NLSAT-LLB Exam Pattern

The NLSAT-LLB consists of a single question paper with two sections:

Part A (75 Marks) – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

  • Negative marking applies: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect or unattempted answer.
  • Candidates must secure more than zero marks in Part A to qualify for Part B evaluation.
  • Based on Part A scores, candidates will be shortlisted for Part B in a 1:5 ratio (five candidates per seat available).
Part B (75 Marks) – Subjective Questions
  • Consists of Legal Aptitude, Reasoning, and Essay Writing.
  • Candidates must score more than zero marks in both Parts A and B to qualify.
  • Admission offers will be made based on a final rank list, considering aggregate performance in both sections.

  • NLSAT-LLB Exam Date: April 27, 2025 (Sunday), 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Application Deadline: March 23, 2025 (11:59 PM)
  • Final Admission List Publication: May 2025
  • Commencement of Academic Year: July 1, 2025

  • Application Fee:
    • General Category: ₹2,500
    • SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/EWS: ₹2,000
Reservation Policy

Seats will be reserved as follows:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC) – 15%
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST) – 7.5%
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 27%
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) – 10%
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD) – 5% (horizontal reservation)
  • Women – 30% (horizontal reservation)
  • Karnataka Students – 25% (horizontal, compartmentalized reservation)
International Students
  • Candidates who are non-Indian citizens and have completed at least 10 years of education outside India may apply through the NLSAT-International examination.
